The Rational Evolution of Natural Intelligence with Mystical Substance in Ishraqi Illumination

Abstract

Islamic thought has different epistemological movements in itself and these movements have produced their systematical structure in themselves. Ishraqi thought is one of these basic movements. Due to its nature, Ishraqî thought is united with different approaches; it affected other views and it is affected from them. Ibn Tufeyl worked to express his philosophical thoughts in his philosophical novel, Hayy bin Yaqzan. He defends the thesis of the unity of reality. From this respect, he is loyal to the peripatetic tradition. He argued that reality can be achieved through mystic illumination and he is successful in defending his claim. He does not ignore the proficiency of intelligence. He attempted to combine the rational activity with mystical thought; but attempt was completed in favor of rationality. Effect of peripatetic tradition is highly significant in this result. Throughout the novel, the autonomous of human is advocated in the frame of Islamic standards.

İslâm düşüncesi kendi içerisinde farklı bilgi kuramsal akımlara sahiptir. Bu akımlar, kendi içlerinde sistematiğini üretmiştir. İşrâkîlik, bu temel akımlardan biridir. Yapısı gereği, farklı akımlarlakaynaşmıştır; yani, farklı akımları etkilemiş ve onlardan etkilenmiştir. İbn Tufeyl, Hayy bin Yakzanfelsefe romanı ile kendi felsefi düşüncelerini ifade etmeye çalışmıştır. Hakikatin birliği tezini savunmuştur. Bu yönüyle Meşşaî geleneğe bağlıdır. Ancak bu hakikatin irfanî aydınlanmayla elde edilebileceğini iddia etmiştir. Bu iddiasında da başarılıdır. Aklın yetkinliğini insan tabiatında görmezdengelmemiştir. İrfanî düşünceyle rasyonel etkinliği sentezlemeye gayret etmiş ama bu daha çok rasyonellik lehinde sonuçlanmıştır. Bunun ortaya çıkmasında Meşşaî geleneğin etkisi büyüktür. İnsanınotonomluğu düşüncesi, İslâmî ölçüler içerisinde savunulmaya çalışılmıştır.
