Abstract
Names are words that help to describe and explain an being. In this sense, nameshave found a place for themselves in philosophy and over time some of them have been con ceptualized. There are some special names that used for God in philosophy. These names playan important role in understanding the imagination of God. Avicenna, one of the Islamic phi losophers, puts forward his imagination of God through certain names in his systematic philos ophy. In this article, it was studied to determine which names are used by Avicenna for Godand how he reveals a God imagination on them. For this purpose, it is generally taken into ac count the works on metaphysics that Avicenna examines the being. Avicenna uses the follow ing names in general for God: Necessary Being (Vācibu'l-Vucūd), First/First Principle, Allah,Bāri'/Sāni‘. It is clear that Avicenna did not choose these names at random. It can be said thatwhile talking about God, he mostly preferred these names when he wants to emphasize theessence, Necessary Being; while explaining the existence process, First/Frist Principle; whentalking about the selbī and relative supplies, Allah and when exonerating to all kinds of defi ciencies, Bāri'. However, all of these names mention that the necessity, simplicity, and unity ofGod and giving existence to the other beings by God. It can be mentioned that Ibn Sînâ pre ferred the way of explaining God mostly through the method of negation and that he has putforward an exonerated imagination of God based on oneness. In addition, the names, his de scriptions about them show the dominance of both the philosophical language and the reli gious language in his vision of God.
