Problems Encountered by Primary School Teachers in the Teaching of Music

Abstract
The aim of this research is to identify the problems encountered by primary school teachers and to make suggestions to solve the problems This is a descriptive study and also a case study A questionnaire form was used for data collection The surveys were administered on the elementary education teachers working under Ankara Province Directorate of the Ministry of Education in 2006 ? 2007 academic year The data collected were analyzed using SPSS program and statistical analyses were carried out It was concluded that the primary school teachers? music education was not sufficient and that they had encountered problems in improving themselves with regard to music education A number of suggestions were made in line with the results obtained
Özet
Bu çalışmanın amacı sınıf öğretmenlerinin müzik derslerinde karşılaştıkları sorunları tespit etmek ve tespit edilen bu sorunların çözümüne yönelik öneriler geliştirmektir. Bu çalışma betimsel nitelikte olup, durum tespiti yapmaya yöneliktir. Araştırma için gerekli verilerin toplanmasında, veri toplama aracı olarak anket formu kullanılmıştır. Anketler, 2006–2007 eğitim-öğretim yılında Ankara Milli Eğitim Müdürlüğü’ne bağlı ilköğretim okulu öğretmenlerine uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen veriler SPSS programı kullanılarak istatistiksel işlemlere tabii tutularak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda sınıf öğretmenlerinin lisans eğitimlerinde almış oldukları müzik eğitiminin yeterli olmadığı, müzik eğitimi konusunda kendilerini geliştirmede sorunlarla karşılaştıklarına ilişkin bulgulara ulaşılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
