Bacteriocin typing of enterobacter species

Abstract

Enterobacter species isolated from nasal and rectal swabs of low-weight newborns hospitalized in the Newborn Unit, Deparment of Gynecology and Obstetics, Istanbul Medical Faculty, were bacteriocin typed for epidemiological purposes. Thirty-five out of 38 specimens were concentrated especially in two bacteriocin groups: 21 were type 1,2 and 12 were type 2. According to these typing results, it was assumed that the babies in the unit were colonized from the same sources, and colonization was considered to be a risk factor for hospital acquired infections.

Özet

İstanbul Tıp Fakültesi Kadın Doğum ve Hastalıkları Anabilim Dalı Yenidoğan Servisi'nde yatan düşük doğum ağırlıklı bebeklerin nazal ve rektal sürüntülerinden izole edilen 38 Enterobacter susu epidemiyolojik açıdan bakteriyosin tiplendirmesiyle incelenmiştir. Otuz-sekiz susun 35'inin iki bakteriyosin tipinde yoğunlaştığı, bunlardan 21'inin tip 1, 2; 12'sinin tip 2 olduğu saptanmıştır. Tiplendirme sonuçlarına.göre yatan bebeklerin aynı kaynaklardan kolonize olduğu düşünülmüş ve kolonizasyon hastaneinfeksiyonu açısından risk faktörü olarak değerlendirilmiştir.
