Abstract
The susceptibilities of some quinolone antimicrobials (ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, pefloxacin and norfloxacin) to 36 Salmonella to 36 Shiaella strains, isolated from the stool samples sent to the Microbiology Laboratory of SSK Izmir Teaching Hospital, were investigated by using agar dilution procedure. All strains were found susceptible to quinolones. The resistance to ampicillin was observed in 50 % of Salmonella and 75.8 % of Shiaella strains. It is emphasized that quinolone group antimicrobials could be used in Salmonella and Shiaella infections because of the increasing resistance to some other antimicrobials.
Özet
SSK İzmir Eğitim Hastanesi Mikrobiyoloji Laboratuvari'na gönderilen dışkı örneklerinden soyutlanan 36 Salmonella ve 33 Shiaella susunun kinolon grubu antimikrobiklerden siprofloksasin, ofloksasin, pefloksasin, norfloksasin ile ampisiline duyarlıkları agar dilüsyon yöntemiyle araştırılmıştır. Tüm suşlar kinolonlara duyarlı bulunurken Salmonella suşlarında % 50, Shiaella suşlarında % 75.8 oranında ampisilin direnci saptanmıştır. Salmonella ve Shiaella infeksiyonlarında bazı antimikrobiklere gelişen direnç nedeniyle, kinolon grubu antimikrobiklerin kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.
