A case of congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection verified by the centrifuge (shell vial) culture method

Abstract

Infant presented with intrauterine growth retardation, jaundice, disseminated petechiae, ecchymoses and hepatosplenomegaly was clinically suspected as congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection. Urine sample taken from the infant was tested with the shell vial culture method which verified the diagnosis as congenital CMV infection.

İntraüterin büyüme geriliği, ikter, yaygın peteşi, ekimoz ve hepatosplenomegali saptanan yenidoğandan alınan idrar örneğinde, shell vial kültür yöntemiyle tanının doğrulandığı konjenital Sitomegalovirus (CMV) infeksiyonu saptanmıştır.
