The effect of anaerobic incubation on the isolation of beta-hemolytic streptococci

Abstract
Specimens from patients with respiratory complaints were examined under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. Out of 1713 specimens 176 beta-hemolytic streptococci were isolated as pathogens. Six of the isolates were obtained using only aerobic incubation, 94 only anaerobic incubation and 26 from both aerobic and anaerobic incubations. Of the 64 group A-beta hemolytic streptococci, three were isolated by aerobic culture only, 35 by anaerobic culture only, and 26 by both.

Solunum yolu yakınması bulunan hastalara ilişkin 1713 örnek aerop ve anaerop ortamda incelenmiş ve etken olduğu kabul edilen 176 beta-hemolitik streptokok izole edilmiştir. Suşların altısı yalnız aerop, 94'ü yalnız anaerop, 76'sı her iki kültürden elde edilmiştir. Altmışdört A grubu streptokoktan 35'i yalnız anaerop, üçü yalnız aerop, 26'sı her iki ortamdan izole edilmiştir.
