Abstract

In individuals vaccinated against influenza false positive antibod titers to HIV 1 (Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1), HTLV (Human T Cell Lymphotropic Virus-1) and HCV (Hepatitis C Virus) can be detected by ELISA. This study was aimed at investigating the false-positivity rates to HIV 1-2 and HCV by ELISA in a total of 50 patients with chronic obstructive lung disease and allergic asthma who had received influenza split virion vaccine. All patients were found to be HIV-negative, but 4 % of the patients were found HCV-positive. The latter group was confirmed to have HCV infection with RIBA and RT-PCR.
