Abstract
Today vaccination is the most effective way in protection from diseases caused by HBV. The aim of this vaccination is to provide early protective antibody response both for pre-exposure and post-exposure prophylaxis. In this retrospective study with 30 females and 16 males, totaly in 46 healthy people aged 10-50, one dose recombinant HBV vaccine (GenHevac B; Pasteur Mérieux Serums and Vaccins) was injected into the deltoid muscle on the days 0, 10, 21 and anti-HBs response was noted on days 28, 49 and 84. Anti-HBs was found to be positive in 29 (63 %), 38 (83 %) and 44 (96 %) cases on days 28, 49 and 84, respectively. Geometric mean titers for anti-HBs values of all subjects were calculated as 10.47 35.48 and 109.64 mlU/ml on the same days, respectively. In conclusion, a three-week HBV vaccination schedule can be recommended to subjects in whom rapid antibody responses are desired to occur.
