Abstract
A fifty-year-old male patient followed up as portal venous thrombosis and non-cirrhotic portal hypertension in another hospital was admitted to the hospital of the authors because of diarrhea, malaise and abdominal swelling. As Salmonella typhimurium was isolated from the ascitic fluid, peritonitis was managed with the combination of quinolone and third generation cephalosporin. Because of the persistence of fever, computed tomography was carried out. Multiple abscess foci were noticed in the abdomen. Drainage was applied during the operation. The patient is still alive after twenty months.
