Abstract

Listeria monocytogenes is an important infective agent in both immunosupressed patients and patients with malignant disease. A 70-year-old male patient was hospitalized in the haematology department with fever and night sweatness. This patient, who was treated because of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and had taken his last chemoterapy six weeks ago, was pancytopenic and had fever. Listeria monocytogenes was grown in the hemoculture. Although available antibiotic therapy was given, he died on the 13th day of hospitalization.
