Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the serotypes of Salmonella strains isolated in Turkey in the last thirty months. Totally 282 Salmonella strains isolated from various materials of humans were serotyped in the Enterobacteria Laboratory, Department of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology, Medical Faculty, Ankara University, between January 1998 and June 2000. The most common serotypes were Enteritidis (64.89%), Typhimurium (23.04%), Paratyphi B (2.48%), Typhi (2.12%) and Hadar (2.12%). It is concluded that up to the date this study was completed, the number of Salmonella serotypes reported in Turkey is 116, and the most common serotype is Enteritidis.
