Abstract

Splenic abscesses are uncommon infections. In untreated cases, the mortality rate is very high. A 17-year old female patient was admitted to the hospital because of fever, weakness and pain in the left upper quadrant of the abdomen. Abdominal ultrasonography and computed tomography showed multiple abscess formations in spleen. Streptococcus intermedius was isolated from blood and abscess cultures. The patient was successfully treated with percutaneous drainage and appropriate antimicrobials.

Özet

Dalak apseleri nadir görülen infeksiyonlardır. Tedavi edilmeyen olgularda mortalite oranı yüksektir. Onyedi yaşında kadın hasta ateş, halsizlik, sol böğür ağrısı nedeniyle yatırıldı. Karın ultrasonografi ve bilgisayarlı tomografide dalakta multipl apse saptandı. Kan ve apse kültüründen Streptococcus intermedius izole edildi. Olgu perkutan drenaj ve uygun antibiyotik ile başarıyla tedavi edildi.
