Abstract

A 44-year-old female, admitted with complaints of swelling, erythema and warmth of her left wrist, was hospitalized with the preliminary diagnosis of cellulitis. Culture of aspiration material yielded group G streptococcus and crystalline penicillin G was given. On the 9th day of therapy, septic arthritis as complication ocurred. She improved with rehabilitation and a eight-week course of antibiotic therapy.

Özet

Sol el bileğinde şişlik, kızarıklık, ısı artışı yakınmaları ile başvuran 44 yaşında kadın hasta selülit ön tanısı ile yatırıldı. Aspirasyon materyali kültüründe G grubu streptokok üredi ve kristalize penisilin G tedavisi verildi. Tedavinin ondokuzuncu gününde septik artrit komplikasyonu gelişti. Hasta destek tedavisi ve sekiz haftalık antibiyotik tedavisi ile iyileşti.
