Detection of Brucella abortus-specific antibodies with ELISA in raw milk samples collected in some villages of Erzurum

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to determine the sero-epidemiology of Brucella abortus in cows in Erzurum, Turkey. Totally 560 cow milk samples were randomly collected from herds in 20 different villages of Erzurum, Turkey, and then tested for the presence of spesific antibodies to Brucella abortus by using ELISA. The results showed that 96 (%17) of the samples tested were positive for B. abortus antibodies.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Erzurum İli'nde ineklerde Brucella abortus sero-epidemiyolojisini saptamaktır. Brucella abortus'a karşı sütte oluşan antikorlar ELISA ile araştırılmıştır. Erzurum'a bağlı 20 yerleşim biriminden toplanan 560 süt örneğinden 96'sının (%17) B. abortus antikorları bakımından pozitif olduğu bulunmuştur.
