Investigation of siderophore and serum resistance in Klebsiella isolates

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the production of siderophores and serum resistance in Klebsiella strains. Of the total 120 strains 80 were obtained from urinary specimens and 40 from various other specimens. Of the 120 Klebsiella isolates, 90 were K. pneumoniae and 30 were K. oxytoca. Aerobactin and enterobactin production was determined by bioassay method. The production of aerobactin was found in 30.8% and enterobactin in 91.7% of the isolates. Serum resistance was positive in 63.3% of the total strains.

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Klebsiella kökenlerinde siderofor ve serum direncini saptamak idi. Çalışmaya alınan toplam 120 Klebsiella kökeninin 80'ni idrar örneklerinden, 40'ı diğer örneklerden soyutlanmıştı.Toplam 120 suşun 90'ı K. pneumoniae, 30'u K. oxytoca idi. Aerobaktin ve enterobaktin varlığı biyolojik yöntemle araştırıldı. Toplam 120 Klebsiella suşunun %30.8'inin aerobaktin, %91.7'sinin enterobaktin sentezlediği bulundu. Enterobaktin sentezi aerobaktin sentezinden daha yüksek bulundu. Suşların %63.3'ünde serum direnci pozitif olarak saptandı.
