The effects of social skills' training on elementary school students' social adjustment

Sosyal beceri eğitiminin ilköğretim öğrencilerinin sosyal uyum düzeylerine etkisi

Abstract

The aim of this research is to study the effects of Social Skills' Training on the social adjustment of elementary school students. The sample of the study includes 38 students in the 4th and 5th grades (18 girls and 20 boys). In this research, pre- and post-test research model with control group has been used. This study has been conducted on control and experiment groups. Walker-McConnell Scale of Social Competence & School Adjustment and Personal Information form improved by the researcher have been used to collect the data. The results of the study indicate that social skills' training is significantly more effective on teacher-preferred social behaviors, peer-preferred social behaviors and on students' social adjustment to school. Özet

Bu çalışmada, sosyal beceri eğitiminin ilköğretim dördüncü ve beşinci sınıf düzeyindeki öğrencilerin sosyal uyum düzeylerine etkisi araştırılmıştır. Araştırmanın deney ve kontrol grubu İzmir ilindeki bir ilköğretim okulunda öğrenim gören 18'i kız 20'si erkek toplam 38 öğrenciden oluşmaktadır. Araştırmada kontrol gruplu ön test-son test araştırma modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın veri toplama araçları Walker-McConnell Sosyal Yeterlik ve Okul Uyum Ölçeği (WMC-SYOUÖ) ve araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilmiş olan Kişisel Bilgi Formundan oluşmaktadır. Araştırmanın sonucunda öğrencilere verilen sosyal beceri eğitiminin öğrencilerin öğretmen tercihli sosyal davranış, akran tercihli sosyal davranış ve okula uyumları üzerinde etkili olduğu, deney grubunun bu alt boyutlar için kontrol grubundan anlamlı olarak farklılaştığı bulunmuştur.
