Personal Interest / Social Interest Dilemma at News Production Example of Environmental Journalists at Turkey

Haber Üretim Sürecinde Bireysel Yarar/Toplumsal YararÇelişkisi: Türkiye'de Çevre Haberi Yazan Gazeteciler Örneği

Abstract

In order to comprehend the personal interest/social interest dilemma of thecontemporary journalists, it is necessary to understand the change that capitalistcooperations, which also involve media organizations that employ journalists, gothrough based on flexible specialization. For this purpose the article aims tosummarize the devaluation of labor and its exclusion from the it is observed that in thedilemma of personal social interest, journalists act in individual who beholds it, inthe process of flexible specialization. In parallel with this changing process,professional transformation of a journalist as an individual will be evaluated as in theexample of Turkish media. In conclusion, it is observed that in the dilemma ofpersonal social interest, journalists act in favor of their personal interests inaccordance with the profit expectations of the capitalist cooperation they work for.

Özet

Günümüz gazetecisinin haber üretim sürecinde içine düştüğü bireyselyarar/toplumsal yarar çelişkisini-ikilemini anlayabilmek için gazetecilerin görevyaptıkları basın kurumlarının da dâhil olduğu kapitalist işletmelerin esnek uzmanlaşmatemelinde geçirdiği değişimi anlamak gereklidir. Bu amaçla makalede esnekuzmanlaşmaya giden süreçte giderek emeğin değersizleştirilmesi ve ona sahip olaninsandan soyutlaştırılmaya çalışılması özetlenecektir. Bu değişim sürecine paralelolarak bir birey olarak gazetecinin geçirdiği mesleki dönüşüm, Türk basını örneğindesomutlaştırılarak değerlendirilecektir. Sonuç olarak, gazetecinin bireyselyarar/toplumsal yarar çelişkisinde, iş gücünü emrine sunduğu kapitalist işletmeninkârlılık beklentisi doğrultusunda kendi bireysel yararı adına hareket ettiğigözlemlenmiştir.
