Labor Process in the Production of TV Series

Abstract

In this study, labour process ın the production of television series in Turkey was analyzed taking the basic premise of the Marxist labour process theory into consideration. Interviews were conducted with both set workers and labour and capital organizations in order to demonstrate the processes shaping the characteristics of the set workers and to demonstrate the control, exploitation and struggle patterns in the process of series production. The results of the study indicated deterioration of work-quality resulting from the control power of capital, exploitation resulting from intense workload, long working hours and wage policies in the series production process. Labour organizations established in cinema and television field were forced to lose power and deteriorate over a period of historical conditions of Turkey. There is division in labour organizations in spite of partnership of working conditions and demands. In response to the struggle of the labour organizations for working conditions in the sets, film companies do not accept that there is an employer-worker relationship with the workers and apply their own laws in the sets.

Özet

Bu çalışmada Marksist emek süreci teorisinin temel öncüllerinden hareketleTürkiye’de televizyon dizilerinin üretiminde emek süreci analiz edilmiştir. Set işçilerininvasıflarını şekillendiren süreçler ile dizi üretim sürecinde denetim, sömürü ve mücadelebiçimlerini ortaya koyabilmek amacıyla hem set işçileri hem de emek ve sermayeörgütlenmeleriyle görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçları, dizi üretimsürecinde sermayenin denetim gücünü kullanarak işi vasıfsızlaştırmasına, yoğun iş yükü,uzun çalışma saatleri ve ücret politikalarıyla gelen sömürüye işaret etmiştir. Sinema-TValanında kurulmuş emek örgütlenmeleri ise Türkiye’nin tarihsel koşulları içinde geriletilmişve güç kaybına uğratılmıştır. Çalışma koşullarının ve taleplerin ortaklığına rağmen emekörgütlenmelerinde bölünme söz konusudur. Setlerdeki çalışma koşullarına yönelik olarakemek örgütlenmelerinin mücadelesine karşılık yapım şirketleri işçilerle arasında işverenişçi ilişkisi olduğunu kabul etmemekte, setlerde kendi yasalarını uygulamaktadır.
