Abstract

This study aims to analyse the relation between modernity and visuality; and it discusses the methods of interpretation of the relation between images and social structures within historical framework. The paintings as the visual reflections of the daily life constitute the focus of this discussion. The Dutch society and the genre painting of the 17th century where the relationship between daily life and visual images were quite salient are analysed as the historical example within this discussion.

Bu çalışmada modernlik ve görsellik arasındaki ilişki incelenmekte; imgeler ve toplumsal yapılar arasındaki bağlantıların tarihsel bir çerçeve içinde nasıl anlamlandırıldığı ve bu anlamlandırma sürecinin hangi yöntemsel araçlarla mümkün olduğu tartışılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın odağında, günlük hayatın imgesel yansımaları olarak resimler yer almaktadır. Tartışma, günlük hayat ve imge ilişkisinin belirgin bir şekilde ortaya çıktığı 17. yüzyıl Hollanda toplumuna ve dönemin resim sanatına odaklanmaktadır.
