AN EVALUATION ON THE ACHIEVEMENTS FOR CREATING ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IN THE TEACHING PROGRAMS OF RELIGIOUS CULTURE AND MORAL KNOWLEDGE COURSE (4-8TH GRADE) AND NEED-ORIENTED QUR’AN COURSES

Abstract

Environment is a living area in the broadest sense. The continuation of the problems regarding this living area increasingly day by day, caused the issue to become a global problem and to gain an interdisciplinary dimension. Discussions have been made in political, social and economic fields regarding the solution of this problem, and ultimately, it has been concluded that the most effective and permanent way of solution to environmental problems is education. In our country, there is no independent lesson in schools (including primary school, secondary school and high school) for creating environmental awareness, environmental education is given in science, social studies different lessons. The messages given by religions are also very important for creating environmental awareness. In this context, the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge lessons and the Qur’an courses have an important place in effectively conveying the importance that Islam gave to the environment through formal and non-formal religious education. In this study, it was tried to be evaluated determining by content analysis method in what extent of the subjects and achievements were given for creating environmental awareness in the curricula and textbooks of the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge lessons (4th-8th grades) and NeedsOriented Quran Courses. Thus, it was aimed to bring the environmental issue to the agenda in terms of religious education. In the study, it was concluded that although there are issues and achievements for creating environmental awareness, they were very few in number and religious references are not used sufficiently. Therefore, it has been thought that the curriculum and textbooks will not contribute to create enough raising environmental awareness in students. This situation makes it necessary to allocate a special place to environmental education in religious education in the axis of the Qur’an and Sunnah, an interdisciplinary study in order to create a holistic environmental awareness and to reconstruct the content of the curriculum and textbooks in this way

Özet

Çevre, en geniş anlamıyla bir yaşama alanıdır. Bu yaşama alanına dair sorunların her geçen günartarak devam etmesi, meselenin küresel bir sorun haline gelmesine ve disiplinlerarası bir boyutkazanmasına sebep olmuştur. Bu sorunun çözümüne ilişkin siyasal, sosyal ve ekonomik alanlardatartışmalar yapılmış, nihayetinde çevre sorunlarının çözümünde en etkili ve kalıcı çözüm yolununeğitim olduğu kanaatine varılmıştır. Ülkemizde çevre bilincini oluşturmaya yönelik okullarda(ilkokul, ortaokul ve lise) müstakil bir ders bulunmamakta, çevre eğitimi fen bilimleri, sosyalbilgiler gibi farklı dersler içerisinde verilmektedir. Çevre bilincini oluşturmaya yönelik dinlerinverdiği mesajlar da oldukça önemlidir. Bu bağlamda İslam’ın çevreye verdiği önemin örgün veyaygın din eğitimi yoluyla etkili bir şekilde aktarılmasında Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi dersi veKur’an kursları önemli bir konuma sahiptir. İşte bu çalışmamızda Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisidersi (4-8. sınıflar) ve İhtiyaç Odaklı Kur’an Kursları öğretim programlarında ve ders kitaplarındaçevre bilincini oluşturmaya yönelik konu ve kazanımların ne ölçüde ve nasıl verildiği içerik analiziyöntemiyle tespit edilerek değerlendirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Böylece çevre konusunun din eğitimiaçısından da gündeme getirilmesi hedeflenmiştir. Çalışmada çevre bilinci oluşturmaya yönelikkonu ve kazanımlar olmakla birlikte, bunların yetersiz olduğu, dini referansların yeterincekullanılmadığı, dolayısıyla öğretim programı ve ders kitaplarının bu haliyle öğrencilerde çevrebilinci oluşturmaya yönelik yeterli katkı sağlamayacağı sonucuna varılmıştır. Bu durum Kur’an veSünnet ekseninde din eğitiminde çevre eğitimine özel bir yer ayrılmasını, bütüncül çevre bilincioluşturabilmek için disiplinlerarası bir çalışmayı ve öğretim programı ve ders kitaplarınıniçeriğinin bu şekilde tekrar oluşturulmasını gerekli kılmaktadır
