DIFFERENT INTERPRETATION AND APPROACHES ABOUT “JINN” PERCEPTION WITHIN THE CONTEXT OF QUR’ANIC VERSES

Abstract

When the term, “jinn”, is investigated within the context of Qur’anic verses, it is seen that a wide variety of different meanings emerge. Beside the etymological meanings of the term jinn, it is possible to mention about the existence of a folkloric jinn imagination common in Arab customs and traditions during the relevance of the Qur’anic verses. In fact, it can be said that this imagination overshadows the original meaning of the term gin beyond the perception of the spiritual dimension. There are also descriptions in which the term jinn are a spiritual being beyond perception, and also, with the term, it is intended to mean that the jinn were beings that were not seen, known and recognized until then in Qur’an. In some of these narratives, attention is drawn to some legendary issues that have penetrated the consciousness of the first addressees of the Quran. The purpose of this is not to tell a legend, but to depict a spiritual / moral and spiritual truth with it. In this study, the term "jinn" was investigated with its metaphysical spiritual and folklorical use dimensions; and different interpretations and approaches in the axis of the Quran verses were pointed out and evaluated.

Özet

Kur’ân ayetleri bağlamında “cin” terimi incelendiğinde çok çeşitli anlamların ortaya çıktığıgörülmektedir. Cin teriminin etimolojik anlamlarının yanında Kur’ân ayetlerinin inişi sırasındaArap gelenek ve göreneklerinde yaygın olan folklorik bir cin tasavvurunun varlığından da sözedilebilir. Hatta bu tasavvurun algı ötesi ruhânî boyutlu cin teriminin orijinal anlamını gölgedebıraktığı söylenebilir. Kur’ân’da cin teriminin algı ötesi ruhsal varlık anlamının yanında o anakadar görünmeyen, bilinmeyen, tanınmayan varlıkların kast edildiği anlatımlar da mevcuttur. Buanlatımların bir kısmında ise Kur’ân’ın ilk muhataplarının bilincine nüfuz etmiş bulunan bazıefsanevi hususlara dikkat çekilir. Bundaki amaç ise efsane anlatmak olmayıp onunlamanevi/ahlaki ve ruhi bir hakikatin tasvirinin yapılmasıdır. Bu çalışmada “cin” terimi algı ötesiruhânî varlık ve folklorik kullanımı boyutlarıyla incelenmiş olup Kur’ân ayetleri ekseninde farklıyorum ve yaklaşımlara dikkat çekilmiş ve bunların değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır.
