The analysis "perseus" heroism myth with symbols

Abstract

In this study, the myth of Perseus was analyzed in terms of the archetypes and symbolswithin the framework of heroism. The archetypal symbols were interpreted through the mythof Perseus heroism, establishing the relation between mythology and psychology. Thus, theguiding role of the myths on one s struggle to get to know oneself and the world wasconsidered to be crucial for the individuals engaging in psychology. Jung, one of the mostinteresting people in the 20th century, and his Analytical Psychology, made up the basis ofthis analysis. The myth of Perseus mainly proceeded according to the viewpoints of Jung andhis followers. The archetypal analysis of the myth of Perseus heroismthe scope of the study-, was associated with the universal symbols and the basic concepts of Analytical Psychologyin numerous works in the literature, primarily with those of Jung and Campbell. Theseevaluations could be summarized as the conflict between the woman/mother and theman/child, as well as the individual s fighting against the power reigning over him; hisdefeating this power and becoming superior over it. Consequently, Perseus s journey was aheroic journey to the one s inner side, in other words, to the one s self . As it was in the past,it should be regarded as a universal journey of the humankind done in the commonunconscious level, in the present and through the ages.

Bu çalışmada; Perseus miti, kahramanlık mitosu çerçevesinde arketipler ve semboller yönünden elealınarak incelenmektedir. Mitoloji ile psikoloji arasında ilişki kurularak, arketipsel semboller Perseuskahramanlık miti üzerinden yorumlanmaktadır. Böylelikle insanın kendini ve dünyayı anlama çabasındamitlerin yol gösterici rolü psikoloji ile uğraşanlar için önemli görülmektedir. Yirminci yüzyılın en ilginçkişiliklerinden biri olan Jung ve onun Analitik Psikolojisi bu incelemenin temelini oluşturmaktadır.Perseus miti, ana eksen olarak Jung ve onun takipçilerinin görüşleri çerçevesinde ilerler. Bu çalışmayıkapsayan Perseus kahramanlık mitosunun arketipsel incelenmesi, Jung ve Campbellin eserleri baştaolmak üzere, çok sayıda literatürdeki evrensel sembollerin, analitik psikolojinin temel kavramlarıylabirlikte ilişkilendirilmesi ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu değerlendirmeler, kadın/anne ile erkek/çocukarasındaki çatışma, diğer yandan bir kişinin kendisine üstün gelen bir güce karşı verdiği mücadele ile bugücü yenmesi ve üstün gelmesi olarak özetlenebilir. Sonuç olarak, Perseusun yolculuğu insanın kendiiçine daha doğrusu kendi ben ine doğru yaptığı kahramanca bir yolculuktur. Ve bu yolculuk geçmişteolduğu gibi bugün de ve çağlar boyu tüm insanlığın ortak bilinçdışında yaptığı evrensel bir yolculuktur.
