Abstract

The most important lead-zinc deposits of Gümüşhane, Hazine Mağara, and Kırkpavili ore deposits were formed by the mesothermal solutions ascended through the faults and metasomatosed the Upper Cretaceous massive limestones. The ore mineralization is thought to be closely related to the Tertiary granitoids. Many samples which were taken from the waste of Hazine Mağara and Kırkpavili ore deposits have been mineralogically examined in detail and besides the known ore minerals up to the present, many new minerals have been determined as a result of this study. The ore minerals are; pyrite, galena, sphalerite, fahl-ore, aikinite, native gold, enargite, luzonite, bomite, mawsonite, klaprotite, galena-bismuthine, hessite, arscnopynte, emplectite, native bismuth, vitishenite, altaite, tetradymite, pirotite, rutile, anatase, zircone, Utanite and graphite. The surfacial alteration and weathering of these primary minerals resulted in secondary minerals such as chalcocite, covelline, limonite, arsenic-antimony ochres, anglesite, cerussite, smithsonite, malachite, azurite, psilomelane, pyrolusite. The gangue minerals of Hazine Mağara and Kırkpavili ore deposits are quartz, calcite, dolomite, barite, ankerite, siderite, chlorite and serisite.
