Perturbation method solution of outward solidification problem around a circular cylinder

Abstract

Numerical methods are usually employed to solve heat transfer problems with phase change in cylindrical domain since there is no analytical solution of the problem. A perturbation solution for outward solidification of a cylinder which is at the freezing temperature has been made and results of the solution are found to be in good agreement with those mentioned in open literature. The results have showed that the perturbation method can be especially used for latent heat storage problems with small Stefan number.

Silindirik uzayda faz değişim problemlerinin analitik çözümleri olmadığından, bu problemlerin çözümleri için sayısal yöntemler kullanılır. Bu çalışmada, faz değişim sıcaklığındaki bir sıvının katılaşması problemi pertürbasyon yöntemi ile çözülmüş ve elde edilen sonuçlar literatürle karşılaştırılarak, pertürbasyon yöntemi ile yapılan çözümün literatür ile uyum içinde olduğu gösterilmiştir. Sonuçlar, bu yöntemin özellikle Stefan sayılarının küçük değerler aldığı gizli ısı depolama problemlerinde kullanılabileceğini göstermiştir.
