A review: secondary metabolites of Uvaria chamae p. Beauv. (Annonaceae) and their biological activities

Abstract

Uvaria chamae p. Beauv., synthesizes and accumulates a variety of secondary metabolites from its root, stem, leaf andfruit. These consist mainly of essential oils, flavonoids, alkaloids and annonaceous acetogenins. Some of thesebiologically active secondary metabolites validate the claim made in traditional system of medicine. The present reviewsummarizes the information available on the secondary metabolites isolated from U. chamae and their biologicalactivities.
