Abstract

In this study, a novel method for the direct conversion of bronze (CuSn10) and steel(S355JR) chips into finished products without melting is introduced. CuSn10 bronzeand S355JR steel chips were used as the constituents for the composite materials. The chipswere first pressed at room temperature and were subsequently subjected to liquid phasesintering. The composite materials were produced in three different constituent fractions. After production, the composite materials were subjected to compression, three point bendingand surface hardness tests in accordance with ASTM standards to compare the resultswith those for bulk CuSn10 bronze. The produced composite materials have reasonablemechanical properties compared to bulk CuSn10 bronze. Additionally, the results indicatethat the proposed method may be considered as an alternative to conventional productionmethods, such as melting and extrusion.
