After Malikšāh's Death Terken Khatun’s Efforts to Enthrone Her Son Mahmud

Abstract

When Sultan Melikşah died to whom the Seljuk throne would pass was not certain because his heirto the throne Ebû Şûca Ahmet died before him. Terken khatun, who wants to take the advantage ofthis uncertainty, had seen all kinds of activities licit to enthrone her son to the Saljuk throne andhas tried every way. She used all opportunities in her hands for this cause. She has establishedalliances for eliminating rivals when she thinks she cannot reach her goal alone. In this study, wesearch the khatun’s struggle to capture administration of the state which intrigue-filled.

Özet

Veliaht Ebû Şûca Ahmet babasından önce vefat ettiğinden Sultan Melikşah vefat ettiğinde BüyükSelçuklu tahtına kimin geçeceği belli değildi. Bu belirsizlikten yararlanmak isteyen Terken Hatun,oğlunu Selçuklu tahtına oturtabilmek için her türlü faaliyeti mubah görmüş ve her yolu denemiştir.Bu uğurda elindeki bütün imkânlarını sarf etti. Tek başına hedefine ulaşamayacağını düşündüğüdurumlarda rakiplerini bertaraf etmek için ittifaklar kurdu. Bizde bu çalışmamızda Terken Hatun’undevlet yönetimini ele geçirebilmek için yaptığı entrikalarla dolu mücadeleyi inceleyeceğiz.
