Abstract
This article examines the Kartli and Kakheti king Heraclius II's attempt to reunite the Kingdom of Georgia. In order to achieve his goal, Heraclius II aimed to enter the Russian sphere of influence to counter the Ottoman and Iranian political domination in Georgia in the last quarter of eighteenth century. Article presents that Heraclius's political steps did not secure him Russian protection but triggered the Tbilisi campaign of Qajar ruler Agha Mohammad Khan . Qajar's invasion left Georgia defenceless and the Russian Empire easily annexed it

İrakli'nin İran hükümdarı Ağa Muhammed Han tarafından şiddetli bir biçimde cezalandırılması irdelenerek, Ağa Muhammed Han'ın Tiflis Seferi'nin ardından tamamen savunmasız kalan Gürcistan'ın, Rus İmparatorluğu tarafından kolaylıkla ilhak edildiği tespit edilmektedir
