Abstract

With the collapse of the Harzemshah State, the Börklüce community is one of the Khwarezm Turks who came to Anatolia as a result of the Mongolian oppression. Like other Turkmen elements fleeing from the Mongol oppression, it is understood that they moved to the west along a certain line of Anatolia and establish new settlements bearing their own name. This activity of the community was not limited to Anatolia but they moved towards the Balkans. Thus, the community can be said to play an important role in the Turkification of the region and in the revitalization of abandoned lands both in Western Anatolia and the Balkans. When we follow the migration movement of Börklüce community from east to west, it is possible to see traces in important cities such as Maraş, Adana, Tarsus and Manisa in Anatolia and Pravadi, Shumen, Thessaloniki and Varna in the Balkans.
