Can Imaging Methods Containing Contrast Agents Be Used with Breastfeeding Mothers?

Abstract

During the breastfeeding period, there is a significant increase in the use of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) methods. Information and attitudes seem to be quite confusing about how computed tomography and MRI gravity affects the baby and mother especially during breastfeeding. During lactation in particular, it is extremely important to inform the mother about the benefits and risks to her and the baby. However, nurses knowledge about this issue remains inadequate. In this review, the literature is explored to determine how imaging methods can be applied to mothers during breastfeeding, the status of affected infants, and contrast material that may pass to the milk.

Özet

Emzirme döneminde, bilgisayarlı tomografi ve manyetik rezonans gö- rüntüleme yöntemlerinin kullanımında önemli bir artış söz konusudur. Bu dönemde, uygulanan görüntüleme yöntemlerinin anneyi ve bebeği etkileyip etkilemediği ve özellikle emzirmeye devam edilmesi konusundaki bilgilerin ve tutumların oldukça kafa karıştırıcı olduğu görülmektedir. Özellikle laktasyon dönemindeki anneyi bu konuda bilgilendirmek, yarar ve riskleri anneye açıklamak ve anne ile bu konuyu tartışmak son derece önemlidir. Ancak, bu konuda hemşirelerin yeterli bilgi sahibi olmadığı düşünülmektedir. Bu derlemede, emzirme döneminde annelere görüntüleme yöntemlerini uygulayabilme, kontrast maddenin süte geçme ve bebeğin etkilenme durumları ele alınmıştır.
