Mobility and Fall Behaviors in the Elderly: A Nursing Home Study

Abstract
Aim: To determine the mobility and fall behaviors of elderly residents in a nursing home. Methods: This cross-sectional study comprised 124 nursing home residents. The research data were collected by using a personal information form, the Rivermead Mobility Index (RMI), and the Falls Behavioural Scale (FaB) for the Older Person. Results: The average ages were 77±8.2. It was found that 49.6% of the residents had fallen at least once within the past year and 65.3% of them had a fear of falling. Amaç: Huzurevinde kalan yaslılarda mobilite ve düsme davranıslarınınbelirlenmesidir.Yöntem: Kesitsel tipteki bu çalısmaya 124 yaslı birey alınmıstır. Arastırmaverileri, tanıtıcı bilgi formu, Rivermead Mobilite Indeksi ve YasılarIçin Düsme Davranısları Ölçegi kullanılarak toplanmıstır.Bulgular: Yas ortalaması 77±8.2 olan yaslı bireylerin %49.2’si son biryıl içinde en az bir kez düsmüstür ve %65.3’ü düsme korkusu yasamaktadır.Düsme korkusu olan, kadın olan, 81 yas ve üzerinde olan,bedensel ve ruhsal saglıgını kötü olarak algılayan, düzenli egzersizyapmayan yaslı bireylerin Rivermead Mobilite Indeksi puan ortalamasıdaha düsük (p
