Abstract
This study was conducted to investigate effects of feed selection technique on fattening performance and on carcass characteristics and the practical use of the technique in the area. The animal response to different environmental conditions and different dietary applications were tested to obtain the most suitable diet which chosen by the animal itself. Four different feeding techniques were applied to Akkaraman lambs. In the study, the control group was fed with the standard diet (%15 crude protein, 2.3 Meal ME/kg) while the first test group, selected mixed, was fed with mixture of diets weekly chosen by the feed selecting group lambs in the energy/protein groups selected the diet with different energy and protein levels (%18 crude protein and 2.0 Meal ME/kg, %12 crude protein, 2.6 Meal ME/kg) on the other hand, lambs in the feed selecting group selected feed row materials. The daily gains (0-8. weeks) for energy/protein group was higher than those for other groups. The feed conversion ratio for energy/protein group was superior to the control group, but not to the other groups. The feed consumption and live weights were similar for all the groups at the and of the fattening. The groups were not significantly different. (p>0.05) for the slaughter and carcass characteristics. The lambs in the feed selecting group and in the energy/protein group were able to select the proper diet that supplied them the necessary energy and protein.
Kontrol grubuna sabit rasyon verilirken (%15. ham protein, 2.3 Meal ME/kg) seçilmiş karma grubuna yem seçimi grubunun haftalık olarak seçtiği yem hammaddeleri karıştırılarak verilmiştir.
