What is konown about avian influenza by health colloge students?

Abstract
The aim of this study was to asses the level of awareness of avian influenza among students attending to health collage. Questionnaire consisting of questions about properties of virus, disease, preventive measures and treatment modalities. 485 students joined to survey. The cause of disease was known by 32.8% of students. It was found that 75.5 % of participation's were accepting avian influenza as a dangerous disease and 51.3% were afraid of it. The students answered 4.25±1.63 and 2.91 ±1.64 questions correctly about on average about virus and prevention respectively. Education programs must be performed to increase the knowledge level of students.

Okullarından mezun olduktan sonra olası bir salgın durumunda hastalara hizmet verecek olan sağlık yükse-koktılu hemşirelik ve sağlık memurluğu öğrencilerinin kuş gribi ile ilgili bilgi ve tutumlarını irdelemek amacıyla bu anket çalışması gerçekleştirildi. Çalışmaya 485 öğrenci katıldı. Öğrencilerin % 32,8'i hastalık etkenini doğru bilmekteydiler. Katılımcıların % 75,5'i avian influ-enzayı tehlikeli bir hastalık olarak algılarken, % 51,3'ü bu hastalıktan korktuklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Öğrenciler etkenle ilgili dokuz sorudan ortalama 4,25 ± 1,63 soruyu, koruma ile ilgili yedi sorudan 2,91 ± 1,64 ortalama soru doğru cevaplamışlardır. Başta sağlık ile ilgili fakülteler olmak üzere yükseköğretim kurumlarında bu konuda eğitim yapılması faydalı olabilecektir.
