Determination of differences among the lines selected from dwarf fresh bean populations in the Çarşamba Plain

Abstract

This study was begun to obtain new cultivars from the population collected from Çarşamba plain (Çarşamba, Terme, Tekkeköy districts) and Ladik district using line selection breeding during the years 2002-2003. Observation parcels were established with the collected population in the year 2003 and single plants were selected. The lines were determined from the single plants in the year 2004 and preliminary yield experiment was conducted in the year 2005. Characterization was made according to UPOV criteria during the preliminary yield experiments. Discriminant analyze was used to show the distance between the obtained data and the lines and cluster analyze were used to clarify the expected number of groups. It was established by means of cluster analyze that the least similar two lines were TK 14 (o) and T39 (p) and two lines were TK 55(r) and Karaayşe (z). The maximum similar two lines T7 (8) and T39 (p), obtained from the cluster analyses were in the same cluster. It was also determined that source squandering might be prevented by differentiating the similar lines at an early stage by means of discriminant analyze since the beginning of preliminary yield experiment period. lit was seen that close and far lines regarding to their traits obtained from the results of discriminant and cluster analyses weren't similar to each other.
