Restablishment and Problems of Human Sciences in Dilthey

Abstract

Focusing on the works of Wilhelm Dilthey, this paper examines the hermeneutical conception of science which is one of the important traditions of philosophy of science in 20th century. Emerged as a reaction against positivism, wherein what is understood by science is natural sciences and where every scientific study should be modelled on natural sciences, Dilthey's hermeneutics supposes that the natural sciences and human sciences are of seperate nature in view of their objects and therefore Dilthey claims that human sciences cannot be modelled on natural sciences and he attempts to reestablish the basis of human sciences. Nevertheless, it is apparent that Dilthey cannot abstain himself from making a recourse to the idea of method and objectivity in natural sciences. Yet, each study aiming at establishing human sciences as an independent sphere of knowledge must keep itself away from the approaches and methods of natural sciences.

Bu yazıda, Wilhelm Dilthey'in eserlerinden hareketle, 20 yüzyılın önemli bilim felsefe-8 sı geleneklerinden biri olan hermeneutik bilim anlayışı incelenmektedir. Bilimden yalnızca do-.*ga bilimlerini anlayan ve her bilimsel çalışmanın bu bilimleri model alması gerektiğini savunan ' pozitivizme tepki olarak doğan Diltheyci hermeneutik, doğa ve tin bilimlerinin nesneleri bakımından farklı olduklarını ve bu nedenle tin bilimlerinin doğa bilimleri model alınarak kurulamayacağı iddia ederek, tin bilimlerini yeniden temellendirmeye girişir. Ne var ki Dilthey, doğa bilimle-,rjnden miras kalan metot ve nesnellik kavramlarına başvurduğu için amacından uzaklaşmış gibi görünüyor. Oysa, tin bilimlerinin bağımsız bir bilgi alanı olarak kuruluşuna yönelik her çalışma, doğa bilimlerinin metot anlayışını ve bakış tarzını terk etmek zorundadır.
