Trends of Modernization in Ten Village Subsisting on Viniculture

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the modernization trends in the economic life of ten villages subsisting on viniculture. The starting point of this study i s the assumption that modernization is primarily realized in economic life. Within this context, firststhe economic activity and production processes of families involved in viniculture and the problem» they face in these processes have been analyzed. Then, the modernization trends in economic structure have been investigated through an analysis of the ownership status, income level, other agricultural activities, and consumption habits of these families. Within the framework of this study, economy as an institution will be treated in terms of Lerner's (1964:47) concept of "transitional society" where the characteristics of traditional and moderns societies exist side by side.

Özet

Araştırmanın amacı Kalecik'e bağlı satış amaçlı bağcılık yapılan on köyde ekonomik açıdan modernleşme eğilimlerinin saptanmasıdır. Çalışmada modernleşmenin öncelikle ekonomi alanında gerçekleşeceği varsayımından hareket edilmiştir. Bu bağlamda ilk olarak, örneklem grubunu oluşturan ailelerin iemel ekonomik faaliyeti olan bağcılıkla ilgili üretim ve pazarlama süreçleri ile bu süreçlerde karşılaştıkları sorunlar incelenmiştir. Daha sonra ailelerin mülkiyet durumları, gelir düzeyleri, diğer tarımsal faaliyetleri, tüketim biçimleri gibi konular ele alınarak, ekonomi kurumundaki modernleşme eğilimleri belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmada incelenen ekonomi kurumu, ge-leneksel-modern toplum dikotomisi içinde değil, geleneksel ve modern toplumların özelliklerinin bir arada görüldüğü Lerner (1964: 47)'in "geçiş halinde toplum" kavramıyla açıklanmıştır.
