Studies on the synthesis of tetracyclic indole alkaloids. Synthesis of azocino [4,3-b] indole framework

Abstract

The synthesis of the compound 10 which has hexahydro-l,5-methanoazocino[4,3-b]indole structure for the synthesis of pentacyclic strychnos type of alkaloids (tubifolin and tubifolidine) was described. Many new tetrahydrocarbazol intermediates and hexahydro-1,5-methanoazocino[4,3-b]indole derivative (5, 6a, 6b, 6c, 6d, 7, 8,10) have also been synthesized. The structures were confirmed by NMR, MS, FT-IR techniques and elemental analysis.
