Abstract
Haemostatic agents are widely used in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The aim of this study is to evaluate the bone tissue response to three intraosseously implanted local haemostatic agents; sodium-calcium alginate (Kaltostat, Bristol Myers Squibb Corp.), fibrin glue (Tissel, Immuno AG) and collagen sponge (Kollagenvlies, Biodynamics) by histopatologically after 7, 14, 21 and 90 days following their implantation in extracted tooth sockets in dog model. The results showed that all materials were well tolerated by bone tissue. These materials neither seemed to impair nor contribute to wound healing comparing with each other and control group except.
