Frequency distribution of post-care applicaitons after endodontic treatment

Abstract

Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the frequencies of cast or prefabricated post-core applications on endodontically treated teeth their distribution though teeth groups. Material and Method: This retrospective study was performed on data obtained form Hacettepe University Faculty of Dentistry archives. A total of 2724 cases that were treated in a 3 month period, each representing an endodontically treated tooth belonging to different patients of different age and sex were included in the study. AH repetitive records on same teeth that thought totbe interfering the results were discarded from the study. The data were evaluated with unidimensional chi-square test. Results: 1533 maxillary and 1191 mandibular teeth were included in the study. A post core restoration was made to 319 of 1533 maxillary teeth while this value was 194 of the 1191 for the mandible. Amaç: Travma, pulpitis, periapikal lezyon gibi farklı bir çok etyolojik nedenle endodontik tedavi endikasyonu koyularak tedavileri tamamlanan, farklı yaş gruplarına ait hastalarda postendodontik yaklaşımda döküm ya da prefabrik post uygulamalarının kullanım sıklığı ve uygulamada tercih edilen dişlerin dağılımının belirlenmesi. Gereç ve Yöntem: Üç aylık zaman dilimindeki, farklı yaş ve cinsiyetteki hastalara ait, endodontik tedavi endikasyonu koyularak tedavileri tamamlanan toplam 2724 diş araştırmaya dahil edildi. Elde edilen kayıtlar değerlendirilirken sonucu etkileyebileceği düşünülen tüm aynı dişler için yapılmış .tekrarlanan kayıtlar çalışmadan çıkarıldı ve geri kalan kayıtlar diş numara¬ları, alt-üst ve sağ-sol çeneler olmak üzere gruplandı. Sonuçların değerlendirilmesinde tek boyutlu ki-kare testi uygulandı.
