Maxillofacial contour restoration by porous polyethylene implant

Maksillofasyal yöre kontur restorasyonlarında poröz polietilen implant kullanımı

Abstract

Use of alloplastic materials in the reconstruction of bone defects and restoration of soft tissue depressions in maxillofacial region is still controversial. Recently porous polyethylene has proved clinically suitable in maxillofacial region. 59 porous polyethylene implants were used for the contour restoration of orbitozygomaticomaxillary complex and frontal and mandibular regions in 19, 15 and 5 cases respectively. Infection was developed in 2 cases and implant exposure occurred in one patient during 15 to 24 months follow-up period. Two (3.3%) implants were removed totally. There was no implant migration. The results achieved following contour restoration were cosmetically successful!

Özet

Yüzdeki kemik defektlerinin onarımında ve yumuşak doku depresyonlarının restorasyonunda alloplastik materyallerin kullanımı için değişik görüşler vardır. Son zamanlarda kullanımı için olumlu görüşler bildiri-len poröz polietilen implant, son 3 yılda, kliniğimizde 39 hastada kullanılarak, 30 orbitozigomatikomaksiller kompleks, 9 mandibula ve 20 frontal yöre kontur restorasyonu sağlandı. Olguların 15-24 aylık takiplerinde 2 hastada enfeksiyon, 1 hastada ekspozisyon saptandı. 2 (% 3.3) implant total olarak geri alındı. Implantın yer değiştirmesi görülmezken, kontur restorasyonu yapılan bu olgularda kozmetik sonuçlar başarılı olarak değerlendirildi.
