Abstract

Occurance of true primary mediastinal ectopic thyroid is extremely rare. It is seen in less than 1 % of all goiters. Mediastinal mass is typically asymptomatic. It can cause venous obstruction and and tracheal compression if enlarges enough. Ectopic mediastinal goiter generally locates in anterior or middle mediastinum. Occasional location in posterior mediastinum, paravertebrally, is rarely presented. We present this case because of very unusual location.
