Abstract

In this study, the article by J. Marsden B. Jones “The Chronology of The Maghazi -a Textual Survey-” is criticized. J. M. B. Jones is the editor of alWaqidi’s “Kitâb al-Maghazi” which is one of the most significant and famous “sira” works in the early Islamic historiography. In this article, first the method adopted by J. M. B. Jones in his study is given and secondly in the light of some exlicit examples his method is analyzed and criticized

Özet

Bu makale, Vâkıdî’nin -ilk dönem İslam tarihçiliğinin en olgun meyvelerinden ve haklı bir üne sahip olan- “Kitabü’l-Megâzî”sinin muhakkiki J. M. B. Jones’in 1957’de yayınlanan “Peygamber’in Savaşlarının (megâzî) Kronolojisi -Bir Metin Tahlili-” başlıklı makalesinin tahlil ve tenkidini konu edinecektir. Makalede evvela J. M. B. Jones’in çalışmasında esas alınan usule dair bazı tespitlere yer verilmiş daha sonra ilmi usullere bağlı kalınarak müşahhas misaller bağlamında tahlil ve tenkitlere geçilmiştir
