Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of Doderlein bacillus on the other cervico-vaginal cytologic findings and, to determine relationship between Doderlein bacillus and some cliniçal parameters. STUDY DESIGN: Totally 614 refered women who have well-investigated cervico-vaginal cytologic examination were included in the study. Two hundred eighty-two cases in which Doderlein bacillus was detected on cervico-vaginal cytologic examination were taken as a study group, the remaining cases were taken as a control group. RESULTS: Doderlein bacillus was detected in 282 (45.9%) cases on cervico-vaginal smears. Epithelial cells that show evidence of infection were found significantly lower rate in Doderlein bacillus detected smears (7.8%) than in non-detected smears (27.4%, p
