Is misoprostol safe for second trimester termination of pregnancies in patients with uterine anomalies ? Preliminary Report

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this report is to discuss the safety and efficiacy of vaginal misoprostol for the termination of second trimester pregnancies in patients with uterine anomalies. STUDY DESIGN: 800 mgr misoprostol was applicated vaginally for the termination of second-trimester pregnancies of 6 patients with different types of uterine anomalies. RESULTS: Complete expulsion of the conception was achieved in all of the patients with minimal side effects. DISCUSSION: Although the number of patients in this study is limited, vaginal misoprostol application appears to be a safe and effective method in the termination of second trimester pregnancies in these patients.
