Abstract
During the era starting with the conquest of the Crete Island by the Ottomans till its taking over by Greeks, it has been witnessed many unrests and conflicts. Because of the strategic importance of the Crete Island in the Mediterranean Sea, conflicts have emerged firstly with the Venetians then with the Greeks. Meanwhile some bilateral treaties have been signed concerning the status of the Crete. This document is a typical example of bilingual correspondence of the State after an agreement between two sides in 1868, and indicates that the Ottomans followed strictly the rules of this agreement.
Özet
Osmanlı Devleti’nin Girit’i fethinden (1669) elden çıkışına kadar geçen dönemde pek çok karışıklıklar ortaya çıktı. Her dönemde Girit adasının Akdeniz’deki stratejik önemi dolayısıyla önce Venediklilerle ardından Yunanlılarla pek çok ihtilaflar yaşandı. Bu sebeple Girit’in statüsüyle ilgili karşılıklı anlaşmalar devam ede geldi.
