Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the Ottoman and British XVI. century starting from the end of the century XVII. century. It is to analyze the crises, rebellions and transformations that lasted until the mid-century with a comparative historical approach. It is essential to question why the “decline” thesis, which has been developed by many academic studies on Ottoman history as a “pre-acceptance”, was the “magnificent revolution” in writing the history of a state like England, to indicate that it had undergone similar or different transformations in both states in almost the same historical process, and to examine and compare these and make In addition to this, questions such as the sharing of power and which groups this share consists of, the distribution of the income of the Early Modern state, and the relationship with the governing authority in this Distribution Will Be Asked.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Osmanlı ve İngiltere’de XVI. yüzyılın sonundan başlayıp XVII. yüzyıl ortalarına kadar süren krizler, isyanlar ve dönüşümleri karşılaştırmalı bir tarih yaklaşımı ile analiz etmektir. Uzun bir süre Osmanlı tarihi üzerine yazılmış birçok akademik çalışmanın bir “ön kabul” olarak geliştirdiği “gerileme” tezinin, İngiltere gibi bir devletin tarihini yazarken niçin “muhteşem devrim” mahiyetinde olduğunu sorgulamak, neredeyse aynı tarihsel süreç içerisinde her iki devletinde benzer ya da farklı dönüşümler geçirip geçirmediğini belirtmek, incelemek ve bunları karşılaştırarak çıkarımlarda bulunmak ana esastır. Bunun yanında iktidarın paylaşımı ve bu paylaşımın hangi zümrelerden oluştuğu, Yeniçağ devletinin gelirlerinin nasıl dağıldığı ve bu dağılımda yöneten ile yönetilen ilişkisinin nasıl olduğuna dair gibi sorulara da cevap aranacaktır.
