The potential of fly ash usage in construction sector

Abstract

In this study, the potential usage of fly ashes obtained from thermal power plants in construction sector is investigated. After oil crisis in 1970’s, the researches are done increasingly to find alternative energy source, to decrease using energy and to produce cheap materials. The studies concerning by-products in construction sector are continued in the present time. Fly ashes caused very important environmental pollution. For this reason using and evaluation in various areas of fly ash is very important. The properties of fly ash showed that this material is a pozzolanic material and can be widely used in construction sector.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, termik santrallerden elde edilen uçucu küllerin inşaat sektöründe kullanım potansiyeli incelenmiştir. 1970'li yıllarda bütün Dünyada yaşanan petrol krizinden sonra alternatif enerji kaynakları bulmaya, enerji kullanımını azaltmaya ve daha ekonomik malzemeler üretmeye yönelik çalışmalar yapılmaktadır. İnşaat sektöründe de atık malzemelerin kullanılması ile ilgili araştırmalar halen devam etmektedir. Termik santral atığı olan uçucu küller, çok önemli çevre kirliliğine neden olmaktadır. Bu sebeple uçucu külün çeşitli alanlarda kullanılması ve değerlendirilmesi çok önemlidir. Uçucu külün özellikleri, bu malzemenin puzolanik bir malzeme olduğunu ve inşaat sektöründe yaygın olarak kullanılabileceğini göstermektedir.
