Abstract

In this study the removal of mercury from wastewater in packed beds was investigated. Valonia acron and beige sepiolite were used as adsorbent. $Hg^{2+}$ solution which is prepared by dissolving the pure mercury II nitrate in distilled water, was used as the wastewater sample. Mercury analysis of the water samples taken from the bottom of the column was made according to the dithizon method. As a result of this study, removal capacities of sepiolite and valonia acron were found. The maximum amount of mercury adsorbed by 1 gram of sepiolite and valonia acron were 131,33 mg and 35,06 mg respectively.
