TEXT-COMMENT RELATIONSHIP AND SURAH NÛR IN THECONTEXT OF THE NUZUL ENVIRONMENT KNOWLEDGE

Abstract

This study was written to point out the importance of the knowledge of the descend environment in the context of text-interpretation relationship in understanding the verses. In this manner, as an example, 61st verse of Surah an-Nûr from the classical period to understand the narratives and commentaries on the contribution of commentators are dwelled on. Also, the search for a solution to the current problem regarding the privacy (the possibility of women and men to be together) in the contemporary period is mentioned. Thus, it was criticized that the search for a solution was related to the -only- 61st verse of Surah an-Nûr. In our study, the religious dimension of the issue of the privacy is not the determination of the limits of the lawful or unlawful. The direct correlation of 61st verse of Surah an-Nûr with this issue leads to the disregard of the historical context. This causes the verse to impose non-textual meaning -a conclusion that cannot be drawn directly from the verse. Our aim is to point out that the knowledge of the descend environment should not be ignored in the process of revealing the main purpose / aim of the verses. In our opinion, it would be more accurate to establish the connection between the contemporary period and the verse within the framework of this purpose.

Özet

Bu çalışma, âyetlerin anlaşılmasında, metin-yorum ilişkisi özelinde nüzûl ortamı bilgisinin önemine işaret için kaleme alınmıştır. Bu minvalde örnek olarak Nûr sûresi 61. âyetin klasik dönemden itibaren anlaşılmasına dönük rivayetler ve müfessirlerin yorum katkısı üzerinde durulmuştur. Ayrıca çağdaş dönemde haremlik-selamlık mevzuuna dönük güncel probleme âyetten çözüm arayışına değinilmiştir. Böylece söz konusu çözüm arayışının –sadece- Nûr sûresi 61. âyetle ilişkilendirilmesinin eleştirisi yapılmıştır. Çalışmamızda konu haremlikselamlık mevzuunun dini boyutu, helalliğinin ya da haramlığının sınırlarının tespiti değildir. Nûr sûresi 61. âyetin bu mevzu ile doğrudan ilişkilendirilmesi, tarihsel bağlamın göz ardı edilmesine yol açmaktadır. Bu da âyete metin dışı anlam yüklemesine –doğrudan ayetten çıkamayacak sonuca varılmasına- sebep olmaktadır. Amacımız âyetlerin ana gayesinin/maksadının ortaya konulması sürecinde nüzûl ortamı bilgisinin göz ardı edilmemesine işaret etmektir. Kanaatimize göre çağdaş dönemle âyet arasındaki irtibatın bu gaye/maksat çerçevesinde kurulması daha doğru olacaktır.
